When working with older homes there is always a treasure-hunt component to renovations as you peel back the decades, reminiscing about some and roasting others. In a home like Holland though, built in 1983 and on the relatively newer side of Denver suburbs, we had a good laugh about the FOUR layers of kitchen flooring (one of them being an additional sub-floor between layers of vinyl...that was fun to pull up).
What do you think about that original laminate down there...should we keep it?! It has such a classic late 70's / early 80's vibe and I hear that's all coming back around in the fashion world. Perhaps we could find a nice Harvest Gold appliance package to tie the look together? Just kidding. Stay tuned for more kitchen teasers...we're working on texture and paint now, then flooring, new cabs and counters, as well as the gorgeous new stainless Samsung appliance package.

With a fully-finished basement, conforming 4th bedroom, gigantic laundry space, and full bathroom - we knew from the moment we walked in we wanted to give this space special attention. It began it's transformation over the weekend with the removal of casings and finishes in prep for its transformation back into a lovely living suite.
We can't wait to show you some of the fixtures and finishes we have picked out! Check back soon for teaser photos and design boards for the lovely new bathroom and massive laundry. Lovely new Pella windows are ready and waiting for install day (we anticipate those may go in as early as the 17th or sometime the following week).
Anna sings it better than I do, but I still might have broken out in joyful song to see this light-filled hallway blissfully devoid of its old doors and casings. It's a fresh start for this sweet home and we have beautiful, timeless, quality doors on order which will soon grace these clean frames.
P.S. Yes, that includes the bathroom as well...we just left that door on for the time being for, errrr, practical purposes. Brand new radon system has been installed!
According to the Colorado Department of Public Health half of all Colorado homes have higher than the EPA recommended < 4 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). A radon mitigation system can ensure your home stays fresh and healthy for you and your family. Bright kitchens, beautiful floors, timeless fixtures...these are the icing on a home which started with deep attention to detail from the ground up. We'd like to give a public thank you to Darren Corso and his team at Mile High Radon. We've worked with them on a number of jobs and they are consistently the best. Darren, as always, thank you! We love popcorn at the movies, just not so much when it comes to ceilings. This classic texture rose to popularity in the 50's as it provided a cheap alternative to proper insulation and finishing technique. By the 90's it began to fall from home-design grace as homeowners glared at the rough, dusty surface or invented new profanities as they attempted to clean/repaint the aging texture.
The popcorn at 4875 S Holland is down now and ceilings will soon have a modern, fresh finish! Look for some teaser photos coming soon. Tip: looking to bring more light into your space? Replace dated and dusty popcorn with a smoother, low-profile finish - then polish it off with a crisp coat of flat ceiling white. This will allow natural light to reflect better throughout your room. |
Welcome!
If you are a neighbor, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude for the warm welcome and all the introductions. You have a very special cul-de-sac full of some of the kindest folks we've met...we've joked that perhaps when we're done with the renovations we should just move in! |
